Western New York Collegiate Rugby Summer Player Development Program
Collegiate rugby players from Western New York are invited to participate in the WNY Summer Player Development Program. This program is the perfect way to improve your skills, fitness, and game awareness for the upcoming fall season.
- Who: Any current or prospective men’s and women’s collegiate rugby players
- When: Every Thursday evening from 6:30 - 8:00 PM starting May 8th until August 1stÂ
- Where: Genesee Community College, centrally located in Batavia at Thruway exit 48
Every player will receive the following:Â
- Individual player and positional profiling along with personal improvement planning
- Fitness testing and tracking throughout the summer
- Individual skill development, positional and specialized skill development
- Unit concepts and principles
- Defensive organization and systems
- Attack planning and execution
- Utilizing a support model to improve your game
- Game awareness and decision making
- Competitive scrimmages and games will be held on a regular basis!Â
The lead coaches for the WNY Summer Player Development Program are Mike Hodgins and Mark Kielbasa. Their expertise will be supplemented by guest and specialist coaches throughout the summer

Coach Hodgins is an IRB Certified trainer, a USA Rugby coaching course leader, and head coach of the Northeast Rugby Union Collegiate Men’s All Star program.Â

Coach Kielbasa is a USA Rugby certified coach and head coach of the SUNY Brockport DI Women’s program.
