Welcome to the Genesee Creamers Rugby Football Club’s web site. The Genesee Creamers were formed in Batavia, New York in 1973 by local residents of Genesee County who wanted to bring rugby to the community. Since then, the Creamers have been playing rugby in Batavia against teams from all over the Western New York area, Canada, and across America.

The Creamers are currently part of the New York State Rugby Conference, and a member of the United States Rugby Football Union. We are always looking for new players. ANY EXPERIENCE LEVELS WELCOME!!! Current and past players have included people from all over the Western New York area. We have also hosted international players from the United Kingdom and New Zealand. The Creamers head to Lockport this Saturday to take on the Gang Green in a spring friendly match.

Kickoff is 2 pm. at the Lockport RFC pitch. Directions below:

@ South Buffalo

On April 10th the Creamers travel to South Buffalo to take on the Thugs in a friendly kicking off at 2 pm.

B-side match against Canisius College to follow.

Caravan is leaving from Settler’s Restaurant at NOON.

Winterfest 7’s - This Saturday.

The Creamers are throwing a side together for the annual Winterfest 7’s tournament in Buffalo.

Breakfast at Settler’s @ 7:15 a.m. Be there before 8 a.m. to leave on time - no exceptions.

Winter Workouts

Open training sessions began this past Wednesday.

NEW PLAYERS WELCOME. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.

Where: St. Anthony’s Church Gymnasium - Liberty Street, Batavia. (kiddee corner to Southside Deli)

When:  7 - 9 pm. Every Wednesday

We will train once a week through February. Adding another session beginning in March until the weather clears. It is also recommended you stay on top of - or for some of you, start to begin - weight training. Check out the Fitness page for more info.

*make sure you have proper footwear, i.e. sneakers, since we’re on hardwood*

Rugby Weekend @ Aardvark Park

This Saturday, the Creamers take on the Rochester Aardvarks, at Aardvark Park, kicking off at 2 pm. Prior to the match, St John Fisher College kicks off against Paul Smith College at 12 pm.

Home Opener

The Creamers take on the Buffalo Rugby Club this Saturday at the Turf Farm. Kickoff for their first home match starts at 1:00 pm sharp. The club looks to improve and notch a win this week. Social to follow at the Polish Falcons.

Lockport hosts The Creamers @ the Niagara Celtic Festival this Saturday

The Lockport Gang Green set up the match Saturday to be played in correlation with the 9th Annual Niagara Celtic Heritage Festival in Olcott Beach, right on Lake Ontario. The young Creamers side look to improve upon last weeks match, showing an intense display against a well-suited Syracuse squad. Thanks to the Chargers for a good match and a great social.

Western New York Collegiate Rugby Summer Player Development Program

Summer
Player Development Program

Collegiate rugby players from Western New York are invited to
participate in the WNY Summer Player Development Program. This program
is the perfect way to improve your skills, fitness, and game awareness
for the upcoming fall season.

Who: Any current or prospective men’s and women’s collegiate rugby players

When: Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 PM starting May 14th until July
30th

Where: John Kennedy School, 166 Vine Street in Batavia

The lead coaches for the WNY Summer Player Development Program are Mike
Hodgins,  Mark Kielbasa, and Clarence Picard. Their expertise will be
supplemented by guest and specialist coaches throughout the summer

Coach Hodgins is an IRB Licensed trainer, USA Rugby coach educator, Head
coach
of the Northeast Collegiate Men’s All Star program, and Men’s
coach at Brockport College.

Coach Kielbasa is coach of the NYS U19’s and coach of the SUNY Brockport
DI Women’s program.

Coach Picard coaches the NYS Collegiate All Stars, NYS U17, and St.
Bonaventure University
